Torres del Paine Pudeto: Catamaran Times and Road Connections
Plan the Torres del Paine Pudeto boat connection to Paine Grande. Match your road arrival, sailing direction and first overnight stop before departure.
Illustrative scene: a simple lakeside jetty with an unbranded ferry seen at a distance.
Torres del Paine Pudeto is the road-side departure point for the Lake Pehoe catamaran to Paine Grande. It is a transport link to plan, rather than an overnight stop to assume. Match the road arrival to the real sailing and keep the return direction clear.
Use Pudeto when your trek plan needs the Pehoe crossing to Paine Grande. Buy the correct direction and check the current sailing with the provider. A bus ticket to the park is not automatically a ferry ticket. If the crossing does not run, the first overnight stage can be affected. Keep the boat and road booking records together.
Pudeto and the Pehoe connection
The park's official map distinguishes Pudeto from Paine Grande. The catamaran provider publishes its own service details. Use it for the current schedule and terms, then use the park for route access.
Pudeto is on the road side of the crossing. Paine Grande is the arrival used by a trek on that side of the W. Do not confuse a road pickup at one place with a bed or walking-stage start at the other.
Getting to the departure point
| Part | Confirm | Do not assume |
|---|---|---|
| Bus or road transfer | Area is Pudeto | Every park service stops at the dock |
| Sailing | Direction and date | The boat runs on an old timetable |
| First overnight stop | Place and check-in rules | A boat ticket includes lodging |
| Return road service | Exact pickup after sailing | The bus waits for a late crossing |

Use the park guide to check where the link fits. If you are considering the eastern tower walk instead, read the towers guide before choosing a park arrival point.
Ferry timetable and booking checks
Read the sailing for the real travel date. A printed summer schedule is not evidence of a winter service. Keep the direction clear on the ticket. Pudeto to Paine Grande serves a different task from the return leg.
Ask the provider for the check-in need and baggage terms. Keep enough room between the bus arrival and boat check-in. A road vehicle reaching the area is not the same as being ready to board.
The operator's Catamaran Lago Pehoe website, checked October 2026, publishes the following Spanish-language timetable. All times are local. The English text on the same site differed.
Use this as a dated reference. Ask the operator to confirm your chosen departure. A confirmed ticket should settle the connection before you reserve a dependent walking stage.
| Published period | Pudeto to Paine Grande | Paine Grande to Pudeto |
|---|---|---|
| 1 to 15 October 2026 | 10:30 and 18:00 | 11:20 and 18:40 |
| 16 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 | 08:00, 10:30, 16:15 and 18:00 | 08:40, 11:20, 17:00 and 18:40 |
| 1 to 15 April 2027 | 08:00, 10:30, 16:15 and 18:00 | 08:40, 11:20, 17:00 and 18:40 |

The language discrepancy matters especially after 16 October. The English version lists different early services and contains stale-looking year labels for summer. Its holiday exception also refers to times that do not match the Spanish table. Confirm Christmas and New Year's Day departures directly rather than carrying over that exception to a different scheduled time.
Vertice's Alternative W itinerary describes the crossing as about 35 minutes, checked October 2026. The catamaran operator's own displayed timetable does not give a clear crossing duration. Treat 35 minutes as the programme's planning estimate, with boarding and disembarkation additional. It is not a guaranteed dock-to-trail connection time.
Check-in baggage and the fare reference
The checked catamaran site lists CLP 28,000 or USD 31 per person per one-way leg. These are the two posted currency amounts, not an exchange-rate calculation. The selected seller's actual payment conditions govern the purchase. Park entry and a campsite are separate costs unless your package explicitly includes them.
Its policy calls for check-in at least 15 minutes before sailing. Do not aim for a bus that arrives exactly at departure. You need to reach the dock, organise the ticket and be ready to board. Settle the road arrival before choosing the boat. This matters most on a day with only two listed departures.
The baggage policy includes one bag of up to 60 litres. It also sets limits of 55 by 40 by 20 cm and 10 kg. Confirm how those limits apply to your packed trekking bag. A 60-litre capacity does not prove that an overfilled bag meets the dimensions or weight. Extra baggage is subject to space and a charge at the dock.
The site says passengers aged 10 or younger travel free with a ticket-holding adult. Check the child's place and required documentation with the actual seller. A free child fare does not promise space on the boat. Check the child's park entry separately.
Road and bus connections
Tell the bus seller which sailing you intend to use. Bus-Sur's park details specifically tells passengers using the catamaran to select Pudeto as the arrival. This was checked October 2026. Use its real booking schedule for your date.
On return, match the selected boat with the pickup. A journey to town may use another stop or departure later in the day. Read both booking records before assuming the two services form a protected link.
Bus-Sur's Torres del Paine page, checked October 2026, identifies Pudeto as the destination to choose for the catamaran. Laguna Amarga and the administrative sector are other park stops with different uses. A booking to the wrong stop can leave you without the transfer your sailing requires.
Read the return road service separately. Pudeto-to-town travel begins after you disembark, not when the boat leaves Paine Grande. If the road ticket is fixed, ask what happens after a sailing delay. Do not assume that two schedules printed on separate websites make one protected connection.
If you drive, record that your vehicle remains on the road side. A one-way trek ending in the eastern sector needs a plan to recover it. Finishing at another entrance does not bring the car to you. This is worth settling before choosing the direction of your W, rather than after the last walking day.
Missed or cancelled departure planning
Contact the right provider if a delay affects the link. The boat provider controls the sailing; the road company controls its ticket; the overnight provider controls the bed. One service's remedy does not automatically alter the others.
Compare a complete trek plan
Read the W Trek package choices when you want these links booked with the overnight route.
Checked October 2026, a voluntary date or time change costs CLP 5,000 or USD 5. The provider's advance terms apply. For cancellation at least 72 hours before sailing, it lists a refund of CLP 23,000 from CLP 28,000.
For a USD ticket, that is USD 26 from USD 31. After that window it lists no voluntary refund. Keep the terms attached to your actual purchase in case they change.
Weather and force majeure may lead the operator to alter or cancel sailings. Its liability statement limits coverage to the boat ticket, excluding consequential lodging, road transport or flights. You need to assess a tight final connection. The boat company does not take that whole risk for you.
If the outbound boat fails, contact your next overnight manager. Do not assume the same walking stage can start later. At Paine Grande, an 11 km walk to Grey takes about 4 to 4.5 hours in Vertice's Classic W plan. A later arrival can therefore affect more than dinner. Ranger cutoffs and the party's pace still govern the trail.
If the return boat is disrupted, speak to staff and the road operator about the actual alternatives. Do not leave an authorised route to improvise a shortcut around the lake. Keep enough food and layers for a delay, and retain the tickets offline. The park's interior signal warning makes last-minute online negotiation an unreliable plan.
Questions and next planning step
Is Pudeto the same as Paine Grande?
No. They sit on opposite sides of the catamaran link. Use the correct name for the road drop-off and the correct direction for the boat. Your first overnight booking may be at Paine Grande or beyond it. That booking is a separate service from reaching Pudeto by road.
Does my bus ticket include the boat?
Only if the product explicitly says so. Read the inclusions and the real sailing booking record. A bus arriving at Pudeto does not by itself give you a place on the catamaran. Keep each ticket available and confirm the check-in need for the date and direction you need.
Can I rely on another sailing if I miss one?
Check the provider's real schedule and ticket terms. Do not assume another departure is running or has space. If a delay affects your first overnight stage, contact that provider too. A later boat may change the walking day even when you can amend the sailing itself.
What if weather cancels the crossing?
Follow the provider's rules and use the terms of your ticket. Then check the road and overnight services affected by the change. A cancellation does not create access to take an unplanned trail. Choose an allowed alternative only after settling how it affects the rest of your booking sequence.
